Gene Scharber of Alexandria, Kentucky founded Gene's Machine Shop in the basement of his home in the late 1970's. Gene's Machine Shop developed out of one man's desire to build the highest quality parts for an affordable price. The work performed by GMS has become know all around the pulling world.
Gene's attention to detail is second to none, and he has built a terrific business based on this quality. Although Gene is no longer the owner of GMS, his teachings were not dismissed. Brent Payne, an employee and understudy of Gene's has purchased the business. Brent spent countless hours under Gene's wing learning the in's and out's of the engines for the family tractor "The Color of Money". Gene decided to hire Brent as a full time employee and trainee in hopes of passing on the legacy of Gene's Machine Shop.
Although Brent or no one else at GMS will ever have the vast knowledge which Gene had in his own mind, the people at GMS will always strive for perfection and the furthering of performance education.
Gene was the best of teachers and his machining techniques and general knowledge were always wonderful pieces to absorb into the memory bank.
So it is our duty at GMS to progress into the future with the same quality driven ideologies as were so important to the past successes of Gene's Machine Shop, Inc.
